IPM CPD Accreditation

Introduction
The Institute of Place Management (IPM) is the professional membership organisation that supports and represents practitioners in the place management and development sector. In this role the Institute supports and encourages the continuous professional development of those individuals engaged in place management, to maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills to maintain a sufficiently high standard of professional competence.

It is increasingly acknowledged that lifelong learning, and the development of an individual’s professional competence is a key driver in the management and development of successful places. The place management and development sector is a mutli-disciplinary practice, often demanding a diverse range of skills and competencies, to be applied to often challenging, dynamic and frequently changing and evolving environments.

What is Continuous Professional Development?
In an era of rapid national and international change, working practices need to develop and evolve to meet new challenges. Most of us are aware of the role that training and the enhancement of skills and knowledge plays in helping people adapt to change. Continuing Personal or Professional Development (CPD) is the term given to the commitment to lifelong learning. Employers and institutions, in all disciplines and sectors, are requiring the wide adoption of a structured approach to the acquisition of knowledge and skills, and are looking for evidence of individuals’ progress towards meeting clearly specified career, professional and business/organisational objectives.
