Simon Cain, Westbourne Training & Consulting

Presenting effectively is not simply about communicating information but more importantly, influencing, persuading or engaging an audience. This Workshop will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to present with clarity, enthusiasm and conviction. It is designed for researchers and practitioners who need to present their ideas when speaking at events, meetings and conferences or when pitching for funding.  It will support you to deliver the key messages of your work to a wide range of audiences in a consistent and persuasive manner.

The session will be delivered by Simon Cain who specialises in presentation skills and public speaking.  He has delivered similar workshops for many universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College,  King’s College London, LSE, SOAS, Leeds, Exeter, Manchester and UCL.  He also works regularly for research funders including the Royal Society, Academy of Medical Sciences, National Institute of Health Research and numerous research councils.  He has helped many academics pitch successfully for research funding.  He also works with a wide range of public sector and corporate organisations including London Olympics, Environment Agency, European Commission, Credit Suisse, Royal Mail, Universal Music, ITV, World Nuclear Association and numerous local authorities.

As time during the training is limited, it won’t be possible for everyone to deliver a presentation.  However, we do need two people to volunteer to deliver a short presentation about their research during the session.  If you would like to deliver a presentation and are definitely free to attend the session, please reply to this email asap.  You will then be sent more details on what you need to do.
