Diane Wehrle, Marketing and Insights Director at Springboard, has been appointed as a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Place Management. Following an announcement by Cathy Parker which reflected the unanimous decision of the Executive Board, Diane was presented with her new membership certificate by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester.

The Institute has a small number of Senior Fellows, all of whom have made an outstanding contribution to place management. The position is only held by appointment and lasts for a period of five years, which can be renewed.

Diane's award reflects her support for the development of the place management industry, particularly in retail locations. As Marketing and Insights Director at Springboard for 17 years, she has led the development of 24/7 footfall counting in retail locations, enabling place managers to monitor performance. For the last four years, she has worked closely with the Institute to look at how data can be used more widely to make informed decisions about places, most recently by leading the Bringing Big Data to Small Users project.

Diane is a leading commentator on retail performance, regularly appearing on the BBC and Sky and in other national media. She is a long term Fellow of the Institute and was for many years a Board Member of ATCM.

"We are delighted to award Senior Fellow status to Diane" said Institute Chair Cathy Parker in announcing the award. "She has been a tremendous ally of the Institute over a number of years, not least in giving us access to billions of items of data! We look forward to taking our relationship forward."
