IPM celebrates 10th birthday!

2017 marks 10 years since IPM elected the world's first professional place managers and launched the internationally-renowned Journal of Place Management and Development. To help celebrate these milestones - and to welcome Professor Ares Kalandides to Manchester Metropolitan University after his recent appointment as a Professor - we threw a party!

Friends and colleagues joined us on Wednesday 6th September at the Benzie Building for an evening of celebration. As well as celebrating our birthday and welcoming Professor Kalandides, the event also served as the opening reception for the 4th International Biennial IPM Conference - an overview of the conference is available here. And if that wasn't enough excitement for one night, we also announced an important new collaboration with our friends at the Landscape Institute, more on that here.

It has been a fantastic ten years for the Institute, and the event provided an opportunity for those who have been involved in the Institute over the years to come together and reflect on some of the major successes, including:

-        Launching Journal of Place Management & Development with Emerald Group publishing, now taken by over two thousand institutions worldwide, and ranked in the top quartile for urban studies.

-        Over 1300 members, partners and friends from all around the World.

-        Man Met Uni researchers have authored over 300 peer-reviewed place management articles making us the leading centre of excellence in the subject.

-        Launching the BIDs Alliance -  a specialist support service for 270+ Business Improvement Districts in the U.K.

-        Collaboration with the Landscape Institute to improve the long-term sustainability and resilience of urban and natural areas (more here).

-        Approximately £10 million of research project funding secured.

-        Providing policy support and guidance to various Governments.

IPM would like to thank all of our Members and Partners that have helped support the Institute over the last ten years.

We are now looking forward to more success in the future, and assisting many more people to make places better!
