At the IPM Conference Gala Dinner in Poznan, Poland, yesterday evening, the Institute appointed five new Senior Fellows. This is a recognition of an outstanding academic or practitioner achievement. Senior Fellows are appointed by a unanimous decision of the Executive Board and hold the position for a period of five years.

The new Senior Fellows are as follows:

Dr Magdalena Florek is an Assistant Professor in the University of Economics in Poznan, Poland. Magdalena has made a distinguished academic contribution to the development of place management as a discipline and profession, notably in the field of place branding. Included within this was Chairing the 3rd Institute of Place Management Conference.

Jane Jenkins is President and CEO of Downtown Oklahoma City Inc in Oklahoma, USA. She is a leading place management practitioner who is highly respected and who has made a significant contribution to place management. A past Chair of the International Downtown Association, Jane has provided support to numerous smaller towns across the US.

Dr Ares Kalandides is founder and CEO of INPOLIS in Berlin, Germany. An influential place practitioner, Ares has also written extensively about place management. He launched the International Place Branding Conference series. Ares is Professor of Metropolitan Studies at New York University, Berlin.

Dr Mihalis Kavaratzis works in the School of Management at Leicester University in the UK and before that at the International Business School in Budapest, Hungary. He is a prolific and frequently cited author on place branding, the interface between marketing and place and tourism who continues to influence the profession.

Steve Maras is MD and CEO of the commercial and retail property investment and development company the Maras Group in Adelaide, Australia. He has been involved in the successful redevelopment and rejuvenation of several main street districts, notably including Rundle Street East. He is a Vice-President of the Property Council of Australia.
