Readership of the Journal of Place Management and Development, the Institute's official journal, up 39% in 2015.

More than 21,000 articles were downloaded in the period.

Although the highest percentage of downloads came from UK based readers, Malaysia was ranked second, Australia third, with China, Sweden, Indonesia, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and the United States ranking in the top ten for reader locations. The international reach of the Journal is further emphasised by the fact that its some 2,000 subscribing institutions are drawn from 94 countries. Over the first 10 months of 2015, papers were submitted to the Journal by authors from 26 countries.

"We are delighted that the Journal is seeing strong readership growth and is seen as relevant in so many places. We believe it gives a unique and informed view about the many aspects of the management of place" said Editor-in-Chief Professor Cathy Parker.  "We very much recognise the role of our Editorial Board, Reviewers, Authors and Publishers in achieving this growth and we are extremely grateful to them. In order to develop things further we will produce an additional Issue in 2016 and we are in the process of identifying and appointing a number of Associate Editors. We will have news on these appointments shortly".

The extra Issue in 2016 will be the first wholly Open Access Issue of the Journal and will be timed to form part of the Institute of Place Management's 10th birthday celebrations.

Issue 3 of Volume 8 of the Journal is now available and all articles are available for free to IPM members.

The Journal of Place Management and Development is published by Emerald Group Publishing and is currently abstracted and indexed by ABI/Inform, Cabell's Directory in Accounting, Economics and Finance, Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, ProQuest, and Scopus.
