The Institute of Place Management (IPM) is the professional body and learned society for people who make better places. IPM is owned and operated by Manchester Metropolitan University, but with its own constitution to improve standards of place management and support the professional development of the people who serve places. In 2019, IPM was awarded the government contract to host the High Streets Task Force. Running to mid-2024, this major initiative provides training, advice and insight to place leaders and place partnerships across England. The IPM also operates Special Interest Groups, the most significant of these being The BID Foundation, the industry body for Business Improvement Districts. IPM also leads a number of other projects investigating the changing nature of town centres and high streets, runs a successful MSc in Place Management and Leadership, and publishes (with Emerald Group) the Journal of Place Management and Development.
As part of the University wide Research and Knowledge (RKE) development and delivery Team, you will be based in Faculty ensuring the delivery of an integrated service. With close collaboration across all Faculties, the RKE teams are designed to improve the quality of the research environment providing a support service to the University Centres of Research and Knowledge Exchange in line with the University RKE strategy. This post will be based in the Institute of Place Management, based in the Business School.
IPM is seeking to appoint a Project and Finance Support Officer to support the successful delivery and coordination of the High Streets Task Force Project. Working under the Project Coordinator, the post holder will provide comprehensive administrative and financial processes support to the High Streets Task Force Management Team, to include the Chairs, Directors and Managers, and to the RKE activities of the wider Institute of Place Management Team.
In addition to general administrative support duties, the role will, more specifically, ensure that all HSTF/IPM financial processes and administration are handled effectively and efficiently. You will join a small team of academics and professionals that delight in making better places through providing an exceptional service to place managers, policy makers, researchers, and students.
